Tuesday 2nd: Pett Level:

A New Year’s walk along the seawall to look for waders, ducks, geese & raptors

Saturday 6th: Wet Level, Wittersham

After this rain it should indeed be wet! A walk up the Rother Valley where there should be wildfowl and back through small lanes on the south slopes of the ancient Isle of Oxney.

Saturday 13th: Ashburnham Furnace

High Weald: high ridges with wonderful views and deep wooded valleys with remains of the iron industry. Wood and farmland birds – this has been a good area for Hawfinches in the last few months, though these can never be guaranteed. Along narrow lanes, farm tracks and footpaths – some steepish slopes, some muddy areas

Saturday 20th: Beckley Woods

Northwards through extensive deciduous and coniferous woodlands. Typical Wealden woodland species

Saturday 27th: Winchelsea Beach & Castle Water

Lots of different species thanks to the vary varied habitat (sea, beach, gardens, scrub, wood, grassland, deep freshwater lakes, reedbeds) on this quite short walk. Flat- with muddy bits.
